Deforestation contributes to more and more carbon dioxide emissions building up in the atmosphere around the globe which we know is harmful to the environment. To help combat these effects, The Salvation Army in Pakistan has a new initiative, called “Green Pakistan”.
The development team created this initiative to plant trees at a number of Salvation Army churches, communities, Territorial Headquarters, and the local training college. Plants were donated by Awan Sports Industries through Christian Care Foundation. This initiative brings together the community, helps the environment, and adds even more beauty to the local area.

Thursday May 20, 2021
The Salvation Army believes that older members of society deserve to be treated with dignity, and to receive care when needed, in an environment which will enhance quality of life.
The Salvation Army has 12 residential care homes and one regulated adult day center across the United Kingdom and Ireland. Each home provides love and care for older people, many of whom live with physical, sensory and cognitive impairments such as dementia and who need assistance with some or all aspects of their daily living.
Salvation Army staff are trained in caring for residents with dementia. Care planning includes activities designed to engage residents with dementia, and are intended to facilitate the maintenance of skills, support communication, cope with memory loss and encourage hobbies and everyday activities. Some of the care homes have ‘reminiscence rooms’ and specialized activities to support and stimulate those living with dementia.

Still Here, Still Serving

Tuesday May 18, 2021
Under the banner of “Still Here, Still Serving,” The Salvation Army held a wreath-laying ceremony at the gravesite of General John J. Pershing in Arlington National Cemetery at the end of National Salvation Army Week.
In 1917, General John J. Pershing permitted some 250 Salvation Army officers to cross the Atlantic Ocean and serve U.S. soldiers at the front lines of WWI. Famously known as ‘Doughnut Lassies,’ these officers would provide comfort, food, drinks, and moral support to soldiers returning from the horrors of trench warfare.
The wreath-laying ceremony reaffirmed The Salvation Army’s commitment to serving veterans and the American people while honoring the U.S. Armed Forces and General John J. Pershing for their friendship and service during some of the darkest times in world history.
