Tuesday Dec 20, 2022
Tuesday Dec 20, 2022
The Salvation Army of Central Indiana is helping 5,000 local children in need receive special gifts this Christmas through its Angel Tree program, however, it takes great support from the community to fulfill all the wishes of these Angels.
Thanks to the philanthropic efforts of two local companies the nonprofit is 850 Angels closer to making thousands of Christmas dreams come true.
Over the course of a week, employees will take five shopping excursions coordinated by the leadership teams of Indianapolis-based packaging company MAVPAK and Fishers-based software company Flexware Innovation. These trips serve a special purpose: to scour store shelves and find the specific wants and needs of 860 local children enrolled in The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program.
Evan Foote of Flexware stated that;
“Kids don’t pick the circumstances they’re born into or live in,” explained Evan, “and I can’t fathom the disappointment or despair that Santa skipped my house would’ve brought me. The Salvation Army Angel Tree program provides a unique opportunity to make sure that doesn’t happen for so many kids”

Thursday Dec 15, 2022
With the 132nd annual Red Kettle campaign underway, the longest-running philanthropic fundraiser of its kind, The Salvation Army is emphasizing its mission of serving those most vulnerable through this year's "Love Beyond" messaging. Love Beyond is also a symbol of the resources and programs that 25 million people rely on year-round when they turn to the nation's largest direct provider of social services for assistance.
"More than 2 million people rely on The Salvation Army during the holiday season alone, but the truth is our communities need help year-round" said Commissioner Kenneth G. Hodder, National Commander of The Salvation Army.
The number of those in need of food, shelter and utilities assistance continues to rise as families face challenges ahead of the holidays. Latest numbers from the US Census Bureau show 91.8 million Americans have had difficulty paying for essential household expenses.

Tuesday Dec 13, 2022
Last Friday, The Salvation Army Empire State division had nearly 100 red kettles placed at Walmart locations throughout the region as part of The Salvation Army’s “National Commander’s Red Kettle Challenge” in an effort to raise more than $1.5 million nationally during a four-hour period.
Since 2020, The Salvation Army national commander, Commissioner Kenneth Hodder, has challenged Salvation Army officers, employees, and community supporters to raise more funds than him during any four-hour shift on a particular day during the month of December.
This year’s challenge will took place Friday, Dec. 9, with the goal of “not only raising funds to support local Salvation Army programs and services, but as a fun and engaging opportunity to raise awareness for those in need.”
Last year, The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Challenge raised more than $1 million nationwide, with all funds raised at local red kettles staying in the communities in which they were raised.

‘Project Create’ is a family affair in Mountain Home, Arkansas
Tuesday Nov 22, 2022
Tuesday Nov 22, 2022
Combine innovative music and arts instruction with high-octane day camp activities and you have “Project Create,” a five-week course for kids that’s bringing more public awareness of the Army’s presence in the community.
The five-week summer music and arts camps are designed as an immersion experience in music, theatre, dance, and art. Through Bible stories, music lessons, arts, crafts, and more, students not only experience and develop their skills in the arts but are learning vital life-skills hopefully beneficial as adults.
The aim of this initiative is to provide kids that would never have the exposure to music and arts. But its more than just teaching music theory or their expression through dance and drama.
It’s proven that kids who are exposed to music and arts also do better in math and sciences.
