The Salvation Army Offering Personal Lockers to Those Without Homes
The Salvation Army of Cleveland, Tennessee has started a new initiative to support their friends in the community struggling with homelessness.
Outdoor, weatherproof lockers have been installed to the backside of The Salvation Army’s building. Offering a safe, weatherproof place for the local community to store their belongings.
When it rains, their sleeping bags are often ruined. Backpacks get stolen containing important documents like ID’s and birth certificates. The hope is that these lockers will keep their belongings safe and dry- and save The Salvation Army money by not replacing sleeping bags and documents multiple times a year.
Anyone in the community without a home can request a locker- at which point an agreement is signed.
As of now, there are 20 lockers with plans to expand.
