Rescuing Food
The Lucky Duck Foundation and Feeding San Diego collaborates with The Salvation Army to fight hunger and homelessness in San Diego, California.
The partnership has rescued more than 200,000 pounds of food that would have otherwise ended up in the landfill and redistributed it to those in need, including individuals experiencing homelessness.
With funding from The Lucky Duck Foundation Employment and Job Training Program, the Salvation Army employs residents of their shelter as drivers to operate more than eight different routes to rescue approximately 30,000 pounds of food per month.
