Acts of Compassion
As the nearly 1,000 Afghan evacuees arrived in the Washington, DC region on August 20th and 21st, they were greeted by dozens of welcoming faces and support groups, including The Salvation Army.
Major Donald Wilson, local pastor at The Salvation Army of Fairfax, received a call from Virginia Emergency Management officials requesting support for the Afghan men, women, and children who fled their homes with only the clothes they were wearing.
The Salvation Army provided critical and much-needed emergency nutrition and supplies to address the immediate concerns of our global neighbors, including food, water, snacks, baby products, and personal hygiene.
Please join us in prayer for the Afghan evacuees, as these families are facing the difficult challenge of starting new lives in a new country far away from the place they knew as home.
